What it is that I do

Casual portraiture gives you a beautiful, true-to-life image. There are no lines to wait in, there are no forced poses, and no forced smiles. You simply get what is real, a natural image that will show a bit of personality. You may even have a little fun in the process.

Sessions will take place at a location of your choice within the St. Louis, Mo area. This could be your home or backyard, a park, a downtown location, or any area that is special to you. I am willing to travel, as well.

What to Expect

You should expect to be relaxed and have fun. Casual portraiture isn’t about being awkward or uncomfortable. It is about being yourself and capturing a genuine smile, a smirk, thoughtfulness or a characteristic that is unique to you. This is the perfect medium to capture the many expressions of your child. The expressions that makes them…well, them!

I prefer to make appointments in the morning or the early evening due to the natural lighting being more ambient, although anytime is fine. I do not keep a close eye on my watch during a session, but most sessions take approximately 1-2 hours.

You are encouraged to express yourself in whatever way suits you as far as clothing is concerned; however, unless there is a particular article of clothing/outfit you wish to commemorate in the photos, it is best to keep clothing simple and solid color so it does not distract from you. Don’t rule out the use of any accessories for you or your little ones. A special toy, a hat, a scarf, or some other item may be a fun prop to include in the portraits. When children are involved, a clothing change is no problem for me but may upset some children.

I will mostly just encourage your children to be themselves, be relaxed and comfortable and simply follow them around photographing them. I will offer some direction, but will not push them to pose for the camera. The same applies to family portraits, I will offer direction and then allow your family to interact as you do in your daily lives and do what comes natural.

It is important for all children to be fed and well rested. Please be sure to bring a snack if you feel it may be necessary to keep them feeling good and please prepare to clean their faces, we don’t want to capture crumbs.

Family pets are always welcome in the sessions. I also do individual pet portraits. Please be sure your pet is groomed and their eyes are clean.

Proofs will be available in 4 x 6 prints for you to view within 2 weeks time. You will be given the proofs to keep as well as to order additional prints from.

Booking your session

Please call or email to set a day and time, weekdays or weekends are available. We will speak either by phone or email before the session to discuss any special needs and details of the shoot, as well as to discuss the individuals being photographed. I find it helpful to know a little about the personality of the subjects I am photographing, it helps me capture a bit of that personality with my camera.

Cancellations

If the need to reschedule should arise, please contact me by phone or email at least 48 hours in advance of the session.

Illness

Please do not bring your sick child to the session. You will be disappointed when the images from the session show how ill and miserable your child was feeling that day. I want you to enjoy the images you receive and for the children to enjoy the experience, neither can be achieved if they are ill.
Other

I offer erotic, artistic nude and boudoir portraits.  Please inquire via phone or email for more information and to discuss your photographic needs.

Prints are available for sale of my artistic works, as is merchandise with my work printed on them.
